In the fourth episode of CBS’ police drama series NYC 22, the NYPD rookies found themselves in three compelling cases, involving a prisoner transport, a bomb threat, and a lost boy.

The episode started with the customary morning briefing prior to patrol. The cops were informed of a public rally led by political and religious figures. The movement was a protest against violence but for the NYPD, this event is a magnet for the worst kinds of violence. Case in point: a bomb threat, which they didn’t know of until they investigated an apartment where firecrackers reportedly went off. The officers discovered that the place is a seeming bomb factory. The resident was nowhere in sight but they found a lead in the case when they saw several photos of a woman presumably stalked by the bomber. She was able to provide crucial information about the suspected bomber whom she mentioned to be a church worker. Truly, the rookie cops found him at the church but he was too hostile. Fortunately, Yoda was around to help the team. After a heavy interrogation, the bomber revealed that he planted a bomb next to the rally stage.
With the use of a robot, the bomb squad was able to get the backpack, only to find out that it was the wrong one. Apparently, a school girl mistook the bomb-containing backpack as hers. As if things couldn’t get any worse, the girl’s boyfriend is a member of a notorious gang who sped off as soon as they saw the cops.
After an intense chase on the road, the NYPD caught up with them and from then on, it was a foot chase amongst the rallyists. The girl was stuck under the grandstand but when her boyfriend discovered the bomb, he fled. Lazarus and the rest of the team helped her out of the backpack and they all escaped a just before it exploded.
As for Sanchez and White House, they busied themselves with the case of a lost boy in the park. They escorted him to the home address he pointed. When they arrived at the place, the mother seemed to be without a trace of worry or fear and disregarded their advices about the boy’s safety, which all seemed odd for the duo. Their suspicions grew when the boy gave them a sketch of his mother who didn’t look at all like the woman they delivered him to.
White House and Sanchez found the real mother who confessed that she sold her son to finance her previous drug addiction. The team arranged for both parties to settle the issue but to no success.
Meanwhile, what was supposed to be just another prisoner transport for Kahn and Jackpot became something more when the truck broke down.
